Relevant Podcast!

In case you missed it, our conversation with Tyler from Relevant is in the most recent Relevant Podcast.
Also appearing on the podcast is Super Bowl MVP Kurt Warner, and we love what he had to say. For example: “A lot of people…come up with an excuse on why they’re not chasing their dream.” We believe dreams come true - if you’re willing to chase them.
We’d also like to clear up any remaining confusion regarding the pronunciation of our name. “One sixteen” works, as does “see-ex-vee-aye”. We realize it’s a little tricky (not unlike Joaquin Phoenix), but we know not everyone is as good at Roman Numerals as Derek Webb is.
Go check out the podcast!

4 Records 12 Months

Hey folks!
We just launched an indiegogo campaign to raise money for our next round of hymns records. Our hope is that we’ll raise enough to record 4 records in 12 months, 3 of which will be hymns of worship specifically crafted, released, and planned around the liturgical Church calendar. Here’s the outline of each one:
Advent and Christmas
Lent, Palm Sunday, and Maundy Thursday
Good Friday, Easter, and EpiphanyWe’re also really excited to make an original music album by The Autumn Film. This record will focus on the walls we build around our hearts from pain we experience in life and how those walls get torn down through the healing relationships we have with our God and community.
You can help us in a few ways:
1) Give generously to our fundraising effort.
2) Tweet about this Fundraiser.
3) Share this Fundraiser on Facebook.
4) Blog about us and our efforts. We can’t wait to start making new music to share with you. Thanks for your support!

How Do You Say That?
People often ask how we say our name.
Is it see-ex-vee-eye? Or do you say the number? (CXVI is 116 in Roman numerals).
The answer is that either is acceptable, though we think 116 is probably easier to say. Full disclosure, though: we don’t really even agree amongst ourselves which is better - we like both. So feel free to decide for yourself.
If you’re interested in the story of how we came to call ourselves “Page CXVI”, keep reading.
We were playing together as a band called The Autumn Film when we realized were drawn to the hymns. We decided that we needed to record some of them to share with those who wanted to hear them. We decided to give the hymns project its own name, since it would focus on re-imagining old hymns.
At the time, our singer Latifah was reading The Magician’s Nephew by C.S. Lewis. She came across the passage in which Aslan sings Narnia into creation from a black void, and thought the name of our hymns project should somehow be related to that imagery of creation through sound.
Our guitar player, Reid, suggested we use the page number where the passage started in Latifah’s copy of the book. Later that day as we walked through a mall in Houston, our drummer Dann saw the sign outside of a Forever XXI store and suggested making the page numbers Roman numerals. We all agreed it sounded like a good idea, and thus our hymns project became known by the name Page CXVI.
That was four years ago. We’ve released six hymns records since then, and we continue to be blessed by the fact that we get to share our music with you. So whether you think of us as Page C-X-V-I or Page 116, we’re thankful for your support and can’t wait to get to work on our next round of hymns records.

This Jubilee Is Missing Some Songs…
It’s true.
We’ve heard from some of you asking questions about it, and we wanted to let you know what the deal is.
On the versions of our albums that we’re currently giving away for free, there is a handful of songs that aren’t included. Due to copyright and royalty situations that would cost us way more money than we have, there are a few songs we decided not to give away.
We’re sorry if you’re bummed about it.
The good news is that ALL of our songs are available on iTunes, so if there’s a song you really want, you can have it for the low low price of $.99 and a few minutes at the iTunes store.
Thanks for understanding, and for your helping with spreading the word about our music!
Here’s a complete list of the tracks that are not included in the giveaway:
The Autumn Film:
Roll Over Me
Follow The Sound
Leave The Light On
SirensPage CXVI:
In Christ Alone
How Deep The Father’s Love
How Great Thou Art
House of God Forever
You Have Redeemed My Soul

This Jubilee Is Bananas
When we decided to celebrate seven years of making music by giving away all of our albums for one month, we definitely did not anticipate the kind of enthusiasm we’ve experienced over the last five days.
We launched pagecxvi.com/jubilee and tweeted a single tweet about it on Friday morning, and within ten minutes the server crashed because so many people were downloading simultaneously. We were flabbergasted.
Our drummer, Dann (who built pagecxvi.com/jubilee), worked non-stop on Friday to get things moving quickly again. Two server upgrades and 18 hours later, we had given away more than 10,000 downloads of our records. Now, five days later, that number is nearing 50,000. In terms of minutes, hours, and days, we’ve given away over two and a half years of music since Friday.
That is bananas.
We want to take a minute to thank you for supporting what we do over the last seven years. We couldn’t continue if it weren’t for our fans, and we love sharing our music - especially with people who appreciate it.
In the next few weeks, we’ll be announcing some pretty big plans for making even more music. Here’s a rough outline:
We’d like to focus on the Church calendar, and we’re planning on making three new EP’s to fit with:
Advent/Christmas
Lent/Ash Wednesday/Maundy Thursday
Good Friday/Easter/Ordinary TimeIn addition, we’re planning on creating a new original music album by The Autumn Film.
We are already assembling a very special team of people and are writing songs that we cannot wait to share with you.
We need your help making these records, and we’ll let you know specifically how you can help soon.
Thanks again for everything.
Blessings,
Page CXVI

“Come Thou Fountain”
In case you’ve been wondering whether or not your little ones will actually like our music, let us introduce you to one of our youngest fans. Her name is Kinsley and she’s a missionary kid in Slovenia.
Her parents help lead a youth rock choir called Fusion through an organization called Josiah Venture. They told us that when Kinsley wants to hear this song, she requests “Come Thou Fountain”.
Pretty cute, no?

Jesus Loves You.
Page CXVI set out to capture what a tiny portion of what the Body Of Christ looks like. We asked people to show us what it looks like to be loved by Jesus.
The song used is from Hymns Lullabies, coming out November 13th, 2012. We’re so excited to share it with you.
Share this video with a friend who needs encouragement and a reminder of the truth that Jesus Loves them today.Posted on October 30, 2012 with 2 notes ()
